Premiere of No Ordinary Family

Make sure you check out No Ordinary Family tonight on ABC at 8 pm (7 Central and Mountain). It’s been described as a live action version The Incredibles. It stars Michael Chiklis (The Thing from the Fantastic Four movies and star of The Shield). There was an online preview a few weeks ago, but I wasn’t able to see it. So I remain hopeful that it will be worthwhile (season 1 of Heroes good, not season 2+ of Heroes bad). Hopefully I’ll have a review up later today or tomorrow morning and will be interested in what other people thought of it as well.

Big Bang Theory Season Premiere

Don’t forget tonight is the season premiere of The Big Bang Theory at 8pm (7pm Central and Mountain). If you haven’t seen the show before, I highly recommend it. There is a lot of discussion on science fiction, comics movies, toys and even some actual science. I gave up on it for a while in Season 1, but the creators were able to tweak the show and improve it to the point where it is one of the best comedies on TV. Highly recommended

Chuck Season 4 Premiere

Chuck, a show many didn’t think would survive it’s first season, is having it’s fourth season premiere tonight. It’s amazing that there wasn’t a usual summer worry about Chuck being canceled (mainly due to the rest of NBC’s schedule being so bad, Chuck was safe). For those of you who haven’t seen it before, read on and find out why you should watch.

Firefly by Joss Whedon

Firefly was Joss Whedon’s first non-Buffy universe show and was an interesting failure. For a show that debuted to poor ratings, had episodes shown out of order and only had 11 of the 14 episodes actually air, it has quite a following. When the axe finally fell on the show, I don’t think anyone would have expected a movie showing up a few years later. And while the show did ultimately fail, it was ultimately a wonderful show that deserves a wider audience.

Seth Green and Matt Senreich’s Star Wars Show

Seth Green and Matt Senreich had a red carpet interview about the Star Wars comedy show they are working currently. They answered several questions before being interrupted by George Lucas while being asked if Yoda would be on the show.

According to Seth, “We’re hard at work on the show right now, full time.”
Matt explained that they’re doing all of the development and production up front and then they’ll be looking for distribution.  They won’t even begin looking for a distributor until the first season is finished, just like Clone Wars, and we shouldn’t expect to see any indication of what the show looks like or what it’s about (aside from what they told me) until after that process is completed.

Game of Thrones preview this Sunday night

HBO will preview upcoming shows this Sunday night.

Sunday night at 8:40 Eastern Time, those who tune in to the “Countdown to the True Blood Season Finale” will be treated to previews of upcoming HBO original programming. The list of shows includes (among others) Boardwalk Empire, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bored to Death and Game of Thrones.

I’m curious about Game of Thrones and interested in most of the other shows. So I’ll be DVR’ing this to see what will be coming up.

Dark Tower multi media

Stephen King’s Dark Tower series is getting a movie trilogy AND TV series by Ron Howard’s Imagine Studios:

Universal Pictures and NBC Universal Television Entertainment have closed a deal to turn Stephen King’s mammoth novel series The Dark Tower into a feature film trilogy and a network TV series, both of which will be creatively steered by the Oscar-winning team behind A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code.

Ron Howard has committed to direct the initial feature film, as well as the first season of the TV series that will follow in close proximity. Akiva Goldsman will write the film, and the first season of the TV series. Howard’s Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer will produce, with Goldsman and the author.

Having the series go across TV and movies will be interesting and I’m curious how they will tie the two together (or if they will tie them together). It should be interestin.

Sandman on TV???

Heat Vision (from the Hollywood Reporter) is reporting that Warner Brothers TV is looking to make a TV show out of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. I don’t know about you, but I don’t really see this as a good idea. But I’ll be watching, just in case.

Warner Bros. TV is in the midst of acquiring television rights from sister company DC Entertainment and in talks with several writer-producers about adapting the 1990s comic. At the top of the list is Eric Kripke, creator of the CW’s horror-tinged “Supernatural.”
